Introduction
Modern economies need a steady supply of cheap energy. At present, we depend on fossil fuels and nuclear power, (Peaty 76) but this energy is limited, so it will disappear in the future. We must change energy system from nonrenewable energy to renewable energy.
And now, we have some renewable systems, for example, Biomass and Biogas, Geothermal, Hydropower, Hydrogen, Ocean power, Solar Energy, and Wind. I pay attention to biomass energy. It is said, a reliable source of hydrogen, fuel cells can produce energy with water as the only byproduct. Hydrogen is used by fuel cells to generate electricity without generating those nasty greenhouse gases. Hydrogen energy will be important energy next oil.
Definition
I’ll introduce three Biomass energy systems. Biomass energy system is to use biome for generation of electricity. Especially, I pay attention to microorganism energy.
First, microscopic green algae -- known to scientists as Chlamydomonas reinhardtii, and to regular folk as pond scum -- was discovered more than 60 years ago to split water into hydrogen and oxygen under controlled conditions. A recent breakthrough in controlling the algae's hydrogen yield has prompted a Berkeley, California, company to try to be first to commercialize production.
